Platform1 is a secure software platform — not a data owner. All license plate reads, images, and vehicle-of-interest records remain fully owned by the contributing entity. We do not mine, sell, or monetise data — ever.
Access to data is strictly controlled. We do not sell access to plate reads or share user data with any third parties. Information is only shared with the rightful owner or official law enforcement agencies, on a need-to-know basis for community safety.
Platform1 is dedicated exclusively to lawful crime-fighting and the public good. We do not engage with clients seeking to use LPR technology for any purpose outside of this mandate.
With transparent access agreements and trusted integration into the relevant region’s VOI network, Platform1 empowers you to fight crime effectively — while staying fully in control of your data.
Seamless Integration Powered by Cloud
All images, plate reads, and databases are securely stored on our cloud servers—no physical server or storage device required on your premises.
Images and plate reads are stored for 12 months, allowing reference to past data during criminal investigations.
Servers stay online during power outages; even if cameras go offline, your data remains accessible.
Fully backed-up, redundant storage minimizes downtime in case of a drive failure or similar incident.
Access your data securely through any web browser, on multiple devices (not yet optimized for mobile devices).
Advanced Security for Privacy Protection
Data is only stored on cloud servers in secure South African data centres. Data is not transferred overseas—reducing exposure to foreign risks and enhancing security.
Immediate action is taken against potential threats to help prevent disruptions and keep things running smoothly.
Back-end systems are regularly updated to meet—and aim to exceed—industry security standards.
User data is securely separated and tightly controlled, so only authorised individuals can access what they need.
We aim to become a demonstrated leader in information security- from our vision for LPR data, through to our backend systems and administration.
Additional Features
Visibility of Camera Performance
Instant up/down camera view in a single page – showing the status of all cameras, whether they are online, offline or experiencing any technical issues.
Camera Performance Alerts
Real time notifications sent to your phone (Telegram) for changes in a camera’s status. Customisable alerts for cameras which get no plate reads over a set period of time.
User Security
All users are required to make use of 2FA (2Factor Authentication). Password expiry and reactivation by their group administrator only ensures that access is on a need-to-know basis only.
Fixed Image Watermarking
All images are appropriately watermarked and include an anonymised user ‘alias’ allowing for identification of the user who accessed the image. Smart Image Cropping ensures consistent watermark integrity.
Custom Image Watermarking
Users can instantly add a ‘Secondary tracking alias’ to any accessed image to identify where, or to whom, the image was sent. Useful when sending images to Investigating Officers or adding Case Numbers.
User Activity Auditing
User activity can be tracked and audited by group admins to ensure compliance with organisational data security practices and responsible usage.
Add Masks
Masks can be added to images to conceal the driver/ occupants’ faces in the vehicle, enhancing citizen privacy.
Seamless Database Integration
Platform1 seamlessly integrates into the most trusted Vehicle of Interest (VOI) databases. This provides access to high quality and up-to-date crime-fighting intelligence.
Custom Local Databases
A custom VOI database can be created which nobody else has access to. Useful in supporting a ‘Right of Admission’ policy of a premises.
Control Room Alert Operations
For clients who run Control Rooms, an alert Interception and Verification module allows for operators to screen and verify alerts before alerts are sent out. Alerts can be accepted or rejected based on customisable reasons.
Control Room Alert Incidents
Once an alert is accepted by a controller it opens an ‘Alert Incident’ in which the controller can add trackable metrics. Control Room Operators can draw reports on activity and efficiency.
Mobile Camera Operations
For mobile camera operators (LPR cameras installed inside vehicles), a purpose built Live Mobile panel (accessible on most tablets), enables real-time reads and alerts.
